She was only 8 months when we found out. She was getting very hyper so I had increased her exercise. I first thought that I had went overboard and she was sore since she was limping a little. But after 2 weeks of meds and no imporvement we had x-rays done to be safe. I was shocked when they said she has hip dysplasia. She is now doing much better but doesn't go running with me anymore. Maybe holding a leg funny when they run or crying if you accidentally push their hips to sit.Some dogs can go through life with no signs if the hips aren't bad. You can have her hips screened and do a preliminary exam to help determine if she may have HD, but you would have to wait until she is 2 years of age for more accurate results.
