Yeah, I have a boxer (3 yr old) who has been diagnosed with HD. I saw the x-ray of his rear legs. What has happened is that the tendons surrounding the hip joint (ball and socket joint) get aggravated and the ball part of that joint grows more bone to protect the tendons. Those bone growths throws off the center of balance in the hip. I put my fist in the other hand and rolled the fist around. It isn't smooth because my fist isn't round and smooth.

Glucosamine and aspirin a day are what I am dong now. The surgeon offered to replace the hip for about 5 grand.

It is my understanding that it is genetic (hence no breeding for this guy) and that jumping early in life makes thing worse. I have since taking my bed off of the bed frame and put the mattress on the floor and will be moving soon to a one story house. I wish you the bets with your girl. Boxers are the best IMO.

As I am sure you are learning, breeding an animal that has hip dysplasia is a terrible idea and should not be done again. But it is too late for that now. It could very well be caused from the dys caused by carrying the puppies and the birthing. She NEEDS to go into the vet and get fixed up. She will need surgery for the hip dys. If you don't get this taken care of it could impact how she is able to care for her pups.

Get her to the vets for a checkup. Nerve damage can happen with giving birth, which is different than hip dysplasia. She should be looked over and they can identify what's going on.
