Learn How to Communicate With Your Pet
It happens all around us, every hour of every day of every week. Thousands of helpless animals are ruthlessly beaten, starved, locked up by their owners. In some cases, neighbors or authorities witness these acts of hatred and can intervene to help the animal recover and find a new, real home. Many pets however are not this lucky, and often times, their only way out of such a living hell is death.
Any way you put it, abusing anyone is a downright horrible thing. The difference is: If a person is being abused, they have a way out. They can call the police, hire an attorney, talk to their friends and family, seek professional help to overcome emotional trauma, etc. On the other hand, what can an animal do? Can a dog call 911 while their owner kicks and punches them day in and day out? Can a cat jump in their car and speed away from the person who is hurting them? No. They have no way out, and are forced to suffer through their neglect hopelessly. Imagine if your pet was in another owner’s hands. Can you even begin to fathom how terrible it would be for them to be hit, kicked, screamed at, starved, or chained up on a daily basis? What if they were dropped off on the side of the highway- as many pets are- and left to die, just because their owner didn’t care?
So, you want to know how you can help? First, if you are a pet owner, never hit, kick, or physically harm your pet in any way shape or form. No matter how you put it, abuse is never acceptable. If situations arise where you find yourself in financial hardships, and are no longer able to provide proper care to your pet, take them to your nearest Humane, or “No-Kill” Animal Shelter. Organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States are devoted to helping all animals find permanent, loving homes. Extensive background checks are performed on all adoption applicants, so you can rest assured knowing that your pet will find a safe, new home.
