How much does Hip dysplasia test costs?

I’m currently thinking of a Miniature Goldendoodle, (Miniature Poodle mix with Golden Retriever) but I’m worry about the vet bills. They weigh around 45 pounds. I’m also VERY worried about Hip dysplasia. Thanks for answering!

Vet bills vary per needs and area. Hip dysplasia can be checked for by x-ray. The hips aren’t done growing until 2 years of age, but you can do preliminaries before then if you like. Your vet should be able to tell you if the hips look ok. Be sure the breeders you get your puppy from OFA their stock, have OFA ratings of good or better, and have a contract stating what they will cover if your dog does end up with hip dysplasia.

It’s about £45 for a check up, and hip scoring typically costs around £200. If you are worried about hip dysplasia it is better to buy a pediree dog whose parents have good hip scores, then you don’t have to worry.

Depends on the vet and what they need done. My dog 60 lbs on average for a routine vet visit is about 150 dollars. Then he gets dental every 2 years which is another 400 dollars. Spaying and neutering can range between 100 and 200. Then if any medical emergencies…
As for hip dysplasia ask the breeders about the past history of the dogs, grandparents, parents, siblings for any health problems they had.
But Min G-Doodles I’d be more worried about allergies and chronic ear problems. Seems when you cross two breeds with allergy problems they get super allergy problems with smelly ears!

    There is no such thing!!!!

If you’re considering buying your “designer” dog from a pet store, you have more to worry about than just hip dysplasia.

All of those overprices mutts come from puppy mills, where animals are bred in tiny cages, under the most horrific conditions. There is no concern for health, quality or care. Puppy mill puppies often come with major genetic defects, and disease.

What’s more pet store/puppy mill puppies have little human contact. They aren’t socialized.

Buying your puppy from a puppy mills directly supports animal cruelty. You will be as guilty as the pet store owners, the brokers, and the puppy mills.

The only way to stop puppy mills, is to stop spending money in pet stores who sell live animals.

There are millions of beautiful mixed breed dogs being destroyed every year, because there simply are not enough homes to support the over-breeding.

There is no such thing as a Miniature Goldendoodle. That’s nonsense – it’s a mutt. You want a mutt? Go to a humane society, animal shelter or rescue. For less than the cost of a yearly vet exam you can find a perfect friend, who has already been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, wormed, tested, and treated for disease. They’re socialized.

Do something you can feel good about. Adopt.

I don’t understand why some people are getting the thumbs down for answering this question.
These so called ‘designer dogs’ or cross breeds as i call them people will want and do want..
This person only wants a constructive answer and i know lots of people who breed these crosses and they make sure that both parents are scored in view that Labs and Goldies do suffer from dysplasia..
In the UK hip and elbow scores cost from £200-£350 to be done when the pup is around 1 year old is the best time(i got told yesterday by a breeder).
As for the bill, is this the usual monthly outgoing cost you are thinking of??
I think it depends on what brand of food you feed and what insurance if any you get as well…
Because the Lab/Poodle and Goldi/Poodle cross are corssed are various stages, each breeder is different in adding more poodle or not… etc ask them about the hisotry of the reeding before and make sure that all relatives have been scored and ask about their health…
