Advantages Of An Invisible Dog Fence
An invisible dog fence has two components. The electric dog fence is buried along the dog’s boundary. The dog wears a collar that delivers a mild shock when the dog gets too close to the buried electric fence.
The special dog collar that belongs to the electric dog fence system delivers a small shock to the dog when the dog crosses or approaches the invisible dog fence. One disadvantage of an electric dog fence is that the dog will also get shocked if the dog is returning to the property after it has escaped. This can be confusing for the dog and teach the dog not to return home.
Since an electric dog fence does not provide a physical boundary, it may not be the best choice for dog owners who not only want to keep their dogs on the property, but also want to keep other animals and people off their property. Dog owners who desire a physical boundary may want to install a traditional fence.
There are several advantages of an invisible dog fence compared to traditional dog fences. Many dog owners feel that invisible dog fences provide better control of their dog. An invisible dog fence can keep the dog safe on the property to prevent the dog from attacking people who may be passing by the property.
A traditional fence does not teach a dog not to leave the property. The traditional fence merely blocks the dog’s path. Therefore, no real training is occurring from traditional fence like the training that occurs with an invisible dog fence. If the dog is blocked by a traditional fence from escaping the backyard, the dog may take advantage of running when the front door is open because it has not learned not to run.
Some dog owners may be restricted from having traditional fences. Many homeowners associations have regulations regarding the installation and placement of traditional fences. Electric dog fences are typically not regulated this way.
The low maintenance requirement is one of the advantages of an invisible dog fence. Traditional wood fences need to be painted regularly and may need occasional repairs.
A regular fence can also interrupt the landscaping or mowing of the grass. Dog owners with invisible fences can easily mow across the invisible dog fence. Also, many dog owners appreciate that the invisible dog fence allows them to have an open yard that is not obstructed by fencing.

Invisible dog fences are a great fence to have. A dog can go over or under a traditional dog fence, but with an invisible fence your actually “training” your dog to stay on your property without having to spend days and weeks doing the training.
